NHS Direct in comparison to NHS24

NHS24 is the equivalent service to NHS Direct but in Scotland.  Here is an interesting view of NHS24 which was published in the Guardian newspaper in March 2004. “Nhs24 activity is out of hours work.  It provides relatively little health information although it is developing an online presence and thinking about digital TV….Out of hours nurses can transfer calls to 999 services, advise patients to got to accident and emergency transfer the call to GP co-ops or advise patients on how to help themselves….NHS24′ is different because it always worked closely with clinicians so it has never been seen as a parallel or rival service.  “
